Being billed on the back of Guillermo del Toro, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark promises you’ll probably end up being afraid of the dark.

I watched the trailer that debuted not too long ago, and thought the beginning was chilling. Kudos for upwards of 45 seconds or so with a pitch black screen. I can only imagine what a trailer like that would feel like in the theaters as opposed to my tiny laptop screen.

The synopsis from IMDB.com states: “A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend
discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of
their own.”

This is where I get a little bit hesitant about the story. I just watched a movie like this called The New Daughter with Kevin Costner. Granted that film was straight to video, and had much less in the way of production values, but a creature feature? I have faith in del Toro. He’s proved with other films like The Orphanage that he can do creepy as well as anyone can.

What do you think? Are you excited? Scared? Paralyzed with fear? Watch the trailer below and let us know.
