No Jason Bourne in New "Bourne"

Here’s some odd news for you. Not only will the new Bourne Legacy not have Matt Damon starring in it, it will also not actually feature any incarnation of Jason Bourne at all. What’s the point then?

It has surfaced on the web in the last day or so that new director Tony Gilroy said: “This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing
Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is
a stand-alone project.”

Let me get this straight, they’re going to keep Bourne in the title, but when it comes to the butt-kicking, silent super-spy he’ll be nowhere to be found? Not only that, but someone else will be stuck in the starring role under a title that has nothing to do with whoever it is? What’s the point? Wouldn’t this be akin to making a Salt 2 without Angelina Jolie or her character? This doesn’t make a lick of sense. Just title it something else then. I have a feeling that Universal won’t do that because they feel that the “Bourne” name will sell at least a few tickets, trying to make up for the lack of ticket sales they’ll have when people find out it was all a cheap trick.
