The Utah Film Critics Association gathered together on Saturday, January 11, 2025 to discuss and vote on the best in filmmaking for 2024. There were no clean sweeps this year as The Wild Robot, The Substance, Sing Sing, and September 5 all walked away with two awards each.
The Wild Robot took home the big win with Best Picture as well as Best Animated Feature. Demi Moore’s work in The Substance was recognized for Best Lead Performance, Female, and the film also picked up Best Visual Effects. The acting in Sing Sing stood out for the association with Colman Domingo receiving Best Lead Performance, Male, and Clarence Maclin Best Supporting Performance, Male. Not to be outdone, September 5 also grabbed an acting win with Best Ensemble Cast as well as Best Film Editing.
