It’s long been known that director James Cameron has a love for diving. This time he’s already building a two-man submersible to travel to the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean. The sub will be fitted with 3D cameras and Cameron will be using the footage to put into the sequel for Avatar, which is expected to be much more about the water civilizations on Pandora.
Well, when Cameron sets his mind to something he goes all out. At least he isn’t like George Lucas, saying “Hey we can just create everything on computers. We don’t need real locations.”
The last time a manned expedition went where Cameron is planning to go… 1960! It’s safe to say that this is a pretty big deal.
