You have got to hand it to stage and film director Julie Taymor (Across The Universe, Tituts) for re-imagining well-known stories in the most intriguing way. Putting a new twist on Shakespeare’s classic play, Taymor has adapted The Tempest and has changed the male Prospero character to a female Prospera (played by Hellen Mirren from upcoming action comedy Red).
The cast also includes Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), Russell Brand (Get Him To The Greek), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Chris Cooper (The Town), Alan Cumming (X-Men 2) and David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum).
The first trailer for The Tempest appeared on Apple Trailers yesterday. Click here to see it in HD. It is tentatively set to open on Dec. 10, 2010.
