Thanks to a heads-up from friend Jeff Vice (MSN, The Big Movie Mouth-off, Geek Show Podcast and Radio From Hell), we were made aware that MSN would have the first exclusive photo from X-Men: First Class. But once their exclusive went online, seems like the Los Angeles Times and Ain’t It Cool News were quick to release theirs.
Most people I speak with that loved Bryan Singer’s X-Men movies (the first two), are not very excited for First Class. Admittedly, I probably would not be very excited for them either if I couldn’t see the potential they hold. Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is now at the helm of the series. After seeing what he did with Kick-Ass (which I thought looked terrible based upon its trailers), I have no doubt that he can bring the fun back into X-Men – something that was missing completely from lackluster X-Men 3 and Wolverine).
X-Men: First Class stars Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) as Mystique, James McAvoy (Wanted) as Professor X, January Jones (Mad Men) as Emma Frost, Kevin Bacon (Footloose) as Sebastian Shaw, Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) as Magneto, Rose Byrne (Get Him to the Greek) as Dr. Moira MacTaggert and a ton of little-known young actors.
MSN’s Parallel Universe offers a look at what will most likely be a banner you will see in a theater. Click on the image to jump to MSN where you can see the image in high-resolution.
The Los Angeles Times gives us three stills from the film – the first featuring a large part of the cast, the second showing Kevin Bacon and January Jones and the third showing James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. Again, click on the images to be see the bigger versions.
And lastly is Aint It Cool News‘ exclusive – a teaser poster for First Class. If I was Harry Knowles, my post for this image would be titled, “I’m “friends” with every geek in Hollywood and all I got was this crappy poster.” But then again, you don’t see us getting any exclusives. Click on the poster to see bigger version.
Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class is set to open June 3, 2011. What do you think?
